Damascus resident, Allison R. Trotter graduated last month summa cum laude from Salisbury University with a bachelor of science in elementary education.

Trotter is the daughter of Will and Anita Trotter, of Damascus. Her sister, Emily, will be a junior at Stevenson University this year.

Allison was the student speaker at the spring 2012 commencement ceremony, which was held at the Salisbury Civic Center. Trotter was also a speaker during her Damascus High School commencement ceremony in 2008.

She is now weighing her options for the coming year.

In order to be eligible for graduation honors, students must complete a minimum of 56 graded hours of coursework at the university on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, in which at least 30 hours of upper level courses are completed with grades of C or better. In addition, students must have minimum grade point average of 3.9 to be recognized as summa cum laude.
