Frederick’s already thriving arts scene gets a little fuller this week with the opening of the Griffin Arts Center at 437 N. Market St., at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The center, which will play host to classes in various media, has 14 art demonstrations from the faculty scheduled for Saturday’s open house, which runs until 5 p.m.
Classes at the center begin June 25 for all talent levels of art students, beginning with six-year-olds. In addition to hosting art classes, the center will also host art shows and sell artwork. Classes will be offered in a variety of forms from photography and film to oil painting and printmaking. Classes start at $250 for 10 sessions.
The center’s grand opening and ribbon cutting will be from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on June 21.
