Virginia Mauk, executive director of the Olney Chamber of Commerce for the past 13 years, recently announced her resignation as she and her family plan to move to Carlisle, Pa., later this summer.
From a personal perspective, I have always enjoyed working with Virginia. She has done a great job of promoting Olney and its business community. Events such as National Night Out and Olney Community Night ran smoothly because of her efforts, and I know she has logged countless hours overseeing the Olney Police Satellite Facility.
The Olney Chamber of Commerce now is accepting applications to fill her position, and to lead the organization forward in its mission to support, promote and represent the business interests of its members.
Responsibilities of the part-time position include daily operations of the Chamberís office and Visitors Center, supporting the board of directors and its committees, membership and volunteer development, overseeing special events and programs and representing the Chamber to the general community. Residency in the greater Olney area preferred.
