A Bowie man was arrested Friday for a 2007 homicide in Suitland, according to Prince George’s County officials.

Ronald Austin, 26, of the 3900 block of Clairton Drive, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Eric Girard Jones, 36, of Silver Spring in June 2007, according to county police and a sheriff’s office news release.

Sheriff deputies had a May 30 warrant for Austin’s arrest and located him June 1 at the Prince George’s County Courthouse in Upper Marlboro, where he was scheduled to appear in court for violating his probation on an unrelated charge, the release states. No information was immediately available from county police Tuesday on what relationship there was between Austin and Jones.

Police found Jones wounded from gunfire in the 3800 block of Regency Parkway outside the Regency Pointe Apartments in Suitland, according to police. He later died at a hospital, according to police.

Austin is now being held at the Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro on a no-bond status, the release states.

No attorney information was listed for Austin in online Prince George’s County District Court records.
