A Laurel charter school is getting help from Prince George’s County to cover the cost of a school bus.
Chesapeake Math & Information Technology Academy has raised about $16,000 to fund a used school bus for transporting students, and is receiving a $15,000 grant through the County Executive’s 2012-2013 Community Partnership Grant Program.
The county public charter opened in August 2011 and served 150 sixth and seventh graders. Each year, 100 students and one grade level will be added. By 2016, the school will serve 700 students in grades 6 to 12.
