One person is in custody after a boy, 16, and a woman, 18, were shot near the Rockville Metro station about 2:40 p.m. Friday, according to Rockville City Police.
“The shooter and the [boy] are known to one another so this was not a stranger-on-stranger shooting,” said Rockville police Major Tim Marsh.
Both the boy and the woman, a bystander, are in hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, he said.
Police have the weapon Marsh says was used in the shooting.
“There is a second person that was with the shooter who is a person of interest in this case,” Marsh said, adding that a description of that person is not available.
There was no interruption to Metro service, Marsh said.
Officers from the Rockville Police Department, the Montgomery County Police Department and Metro Transit Police are on the scene.
