A Frederick Community College program will offer middle school students around the county a chance to work with robots this summer.

The Kids on Campus program will host the Lego Mindstorms: Robotic Fun classes for 10- to 14-year-olds who are interested in exploring and building robots.

Students will build a robot that can follow their commands, as well as test a number of robot creations. Students will also use a computer and infrared transmitter to program their robots so they can meet a series of challenges on a designed course.

The classes will be from July 9 to 12 at Brunswick Middle School, July 16 to 19 at Urbana Middle School, July 30 to Aug. 2 at Middletown Middle School and Auu. 6 to 9 at Thurmont Middle School.

The 12-hour class costs $99. Students can register at www.frederick.edu/kidsoncampus. For more information, email kidsoncampus@frederick.edu or call 301-846-2661.
