Students at Clopper Mill Elementary School, Germantown, got a glimpse into some future job possibilities at the school’s annual Career Day on May 3.

More than 25 people came to the school representing 19 occupations, school counselor Ellen Berman said in an email.

“The students came away with ideas for things they can start doing now to help them reach their future career goals,” Berman wrote.

She said two highlights of the day were a karate master engaging students in an interactive demonstration and firefighters being summoned to an emergency just as they were showing the first-grade classes their fire engine and ambulance.

“I liked the karate instructor best because he taught us how to block with our hands so nobody can hurt us. He also taught us to respect our parents,” said fifth-grader Lisa Truong.
