The Catoctin Wildlife Preserve and Zoo is honoring mothers, both human and animal, on Sunday.
To celebrate Mother’s Day, moms will get into the zoo for a child’s price of $11.50.
The zoo will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Zoo officials will be honoring the animal moms and their children, which includes a goat and her two kids and a black swan and her babies.
Two shows will be held with zoo officials discussing animals and their babies. The shows are at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
“We’ll highlight how [human] moms are different from animal moms,” said Brandi Owens, assistant director of guest services at the zoo. “We focus on mom and our moms at the zoo.”
Off of Route 15 at 13019 Catoctin Furnace Road in Thurmont, the zoo sits on 25 wooded acres and is home to 1,100 animals representing 319 different species.
The zoo will host a variety of family-friendly activities throughout May and June, including a Father’s Day event on June 17.
