Prince George’s police discovered more than 23 pounds of marijuana while searching through a Suitland man’s apartment during a large drug bust Friday.
As a result, officers arrested known gang member Leon Flythe, 28, of the 3500 block of Parkway Terrace Drive, and he is charged with felony possession with the intent to distribute large amounts of marijuana and other drug-related offenses.
Officer First Class Iris Acosta, a county police spokeswoman, said the department’s gang unit is handling the investigation and said she did not know if officers are looking to make additional arrests. She said while Flythe is a known gang member, she did not know which gang.
In addition to the marijuana, police found $4,000 in cash and ammunition, Acosta said.
Flythe was taken the county’s department of corrections, where he is being held on a $60,000 bond.
Julie Parker, a county police spokeswoman, said the drug bust is substantial given that the amount is measured in pounds rather than ounces.
