A driver struck a Prince George’s County police cruiser today, sending an officer to the hospital, according to county police.
The crash happened about 11 a.m., when the driver of a Toyota tried making a left turn onto Lake Arbor Way from Central Avenue and struck a police cruiser traveling the opposite direction on Central Avenue toward Washington, D.C., said Cpl. Larry Johnson, a county police spokesman.
The officer, the female driver of the Toyota and her passenger were all taken to a hospital and were all "expected to be fine," Johnson said. An approximate age was not available for the driver of the Toyota, nor was any further information her passenger, Johnson said.
The officer was not en route to a call, Johnson said.
As of Friday afternoon, there were no charges filed against the driver of the Toyota, Johnson said.
