Wrestler of the Year: Austin Wenzlaff, Tuscarora

Wenzlaff was so dominant during his senior season at the 160-pound weight class that he won every match by a major decision, technical fall or pin. He finished the year 45-0, capped by a 12-2 victory against Brad Taylor in the Maryland 4A/3A championship match.

Coach of the Year: Ben Arneson, Urbana

The Urbana coach has developed a history of success since he took over the Hawks six years ago. In 2012 he led Urbana to the Maryland 4A/3A dual meet title. The Hawks haven't lost a dual meet to a Frederick County opponent since 2007.

First Team

Morgan Way, Urbana, Freshman, 106

Finished third in the state and amassed a 48-1 record.

Anthoney, Savage, Tuscarora, Sophomore, 113

Came one victory shy of a state title and finished 39-1.

Matt Steinheimer, Urbana, Senior, 120

One of the Hawks' leaders, he compiled a 43-6 record this season.

Charlie Perella, Catoctin, 126, Freshman

In his first high school season, he wsa 37-8 and took fourth in the state.

Nick Frank, Urbana, Junior, 132

Recorded 100th career victory during the season and placed third in the state (48-3).

Pat Guilday, Catoctin, Sophomore, 138

Finished fourth in the 2A/1A West Region and amassed a 32-12 record.

Chad Ellis, Linganore, Junior, 145

Finished 42-7 season by taking fourth at state tournament.

Collin Schildt, Catoctin, Junior, 152

Went 42-2 and took fourth place in state tournament.

Austin Wenzlaff, Tuscarora, Senior, 160

Completed dominant high school career with a state title.

Willie Reiter, South Carroll, Senior, 170

Finished final high school season with 44-1 record and state title.

Judd Ziegler, Middletown, Senior, 182

Princeton-bound senior went 46-0 and won state championship.

Andrew Cross, Middletown, Senior, 195

Went 39-6 and won Frederick County championship.

Ryan Simonica, Oakdale, Junior, 220

Took fifth in the 2A/1A West Region and finished 27-12.

Ty Tucker, Walkersville, Senior, 285

Finished third in the 2A/1A state tournament and went 34-4.
