An issue about whether a Rockville business can expand off-street parking in the historic West End again will come before the city’s mayor and council.
The body on Monday will have a discussion and provide instruction to city staff about whether Robert A. Pumphrey Funeral home can add 46 parking spaces on an adjacent lot on West Montgomery Avenue to mitigate off-street parking.
About 40 residents turned out at a public hearing in March, split nearly 2-to-1 in favor of allowing the funeral home, at 300 W. Montgomery Ave., to build the lot.
The 2010 mayor and council changed the city’s zoning law to allow the funeral home to build-off street parking; the current mayor and council voted 3-2 in January to overturn that change.
