Manna Food Center of Gaithersburg took in more than 40,000 pounds of food last month thanks to community drives at Giant Food stores throughout Montgomery County.

The food was collected at various grocery stores in the county during the Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend, Jan. 14 and 15.

The Giant store on East-West Highway in Silver Spring collected the most, sending in 4,912 pounds of food. The Kentland stores was second-most with 2,585 pounds of food.
