Kaplan University recently announced that three Frederick County public school teachers have been awarded its School of Graduate Education scholarships. The teachers can use the full tuition awards to earn a master’s degree.

The three recipients are Jessica Bowers, of Walkersville, a teacher at Tuscarora High School; Alyssa Pilarcik, of Middleton, a teacher at Ballenger Creek Elementary School; and Jenna Stephen, of Frederick, a teacher at Waverley Elementary School.

All three are pursuing Master of Science in education in instructional technology degrees. The trio were selected based on their undergraduate grade-point averages, leadership abilities, participation in school and community activities, and an essay, among other criteria.
