Prince George’s police have identified the vehicle involved in a hit-and-run fatal collision that killed an Oxon Hill couple earlier this month, and continue to search for the driver.
Police said the vehicle is a dark-colored Chevrolet Cavalier or Geo Prizm with possible damage to the grill or headlight.
At about 7 a.m. Jan. 6, police said Michael Jerome Thomas Sr., 55, and Mildred Caroline Freeman, 62, both of the 6500 block of Bock Terrace in Oxon Hill, were crossing Oxon Hill Road in the 6200 block when the couple was struck by a car going east on the road.
Both victims were transported to an area hospital where they died.
Police said the couple was standing in the center left-turn lane to cross the road, outside of a crosswalk, when the car struck them.
Thomas died Jan. 6, and Freeman died a day later.
Cpl. Evan Baxter, a police spokesman, said Thursday the investigation is ongoing and police are still seeking help from the public. He had no additional information on the case.
No phone number was listed for family in the couple’s block.
