Prince George’s police have identified the man found dead behind a Capitol Heights trash bin Friday as a 31-year-old Upper Marlboro resident.
Perry Earl Hunt of the 5100 block of Sly Fox Court was found lying unresponsive Friday morning behind an apartment complex trash bin in the 1400 block of Doewood Lane, about 12 miles from his home, and was pronounced dead at the scene, police say. A phone number for Hunt’s residence could not be located.
Cpl. Henry Tippett, a county police spokesman, said there were obvious signs of trauma when Hunt’s body was found, and it seemed he had been cut.
“The investigation is still open at this point,” he said, noting that police believe Hunt was injured before being dumped behind the trash bin. “We’re trying to find out where this may have occurred.”
There have been no suspects identified or arrests as of Sunday afternoon.
Hunt’s body was found across the street from the United Communities Against Poverty nonprofit.
County police are looking at surveillance camera footage from their building to see if they can find any clues about Hunt’s death, said Teko Henry, a receptionist for UCAP, on Friday. The organization was not open Sunday.
The killing marks Prince George’s County’s third homicide of the year.
Just one day earlier, in an unrelated incident, Brian Keith Tann, a 43-year-old Landover man, was shot and killed by an adult male acquaintance after a dispute in Tann’s home in the 7700 block of Bender Road at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday, said Cpl. Larry Johnson, a county police spokesman.
Tann was taken to an area hospital, where he died, Johnson said.
Tippett said police have a warrant to arrest the suspect, Thomas Everette Chester, for first-degree murder. He did not have more information on Chester and said police are still trying to locate him.
A phone number for Tann’s residence could not be located.
Anyone with information about Chester’s whereabouts is asked to call the Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit at 301-772-4925.
