Maryland State Police arrested four men today in connection to a deadly assault of a Rocky Ridge man that took place in a Keymar bar in August.

Three of the suspects, John D. Robey, 52, and his two sons, Jonathan L. Robey, 20, and Thomas J. Robey, 22, lived in Woodsboro at the time of the assault, but had since moved to Hagerstown, according to police.

Each man is charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter, first-degree assault, and second-degree assault.

The fourth man, Michael J. “Hank” Grimes, 48, of Woodsboro, is charged with manslaughter and second-degree assault.

Greg Shipley, State Police spokesman, said he wasn’t sure if Grimes and the Robeys knew one another prior to the assault.

“I really can’t shed any light on that,” Shipley said. “They were all in the bar, and some type of altercation began, and that led to the assault. Again, I don’t know their prior history.”

The four men allegedly assaulted Craig E. Myers, 26, of Rocky Ridge in a Keymar bar on Aug. 28. Police arrived around 9:15 p.m., and found Myers unresponsive. He was flown by helicopter to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, and died Sept. 2 as a result of his injuries, police said.

An autopsy on Myers revealed he died of blunt-force trauma, and the death was ruled a homicide, police said.

Evidence was presented to a Carroll County grand jury, leading to indictments for all four men on Thursday. Maryland State Police arrested the four men this morning , and they are being held in the Carroll County Detention Center without bond.

Attorney information for the defendants was not immediately available.
