Player of the year

Becky Sowers, Roosevelt: After suffering a minor knee injury in last year’s loss to Bowie in the 4A South Region final, Sowers returned healthy for the 2011 season. She led the Raiders to the region title with 35 goals, including eight three-goal games, and also had 20 assists. Sowers scored two goals and added two assists in the second half of the Raiders’ 4-0 victory against Henry A. Wise in the region semifinals.

Coach of the year

Marty Pfister, Roosevelt: Pfister guided the Raiders to the 4A South Region title and an appearance in the state semifinals with a youthful squad that relied primarily on two seniors for its scoring. Roosevelt rebounded from a 3-1 regular season loss to Bowie to upend the Bulldogs, 1-0, in the region final.

First Team

Christen Blair, Wise: Senior led the Pumas with 16 goals, including three in a playoff victory against High Point.

Tanisha Cardwell, Gwynn Park: Junior led the Yellow Jackets with 25 goals and added another 21 assists.

Sara Cavanagh, McNamara: Junior goalkeeper was named to the All-Washington Catholic Athletic Conference Second Team.

Paige DeLoach, Seton: Sophomore led the Roadrunners with 12 goals and had seven assists. Named All-WCAC First Team.

Lexi D’Orsaneo, Bowie: Junior led the Bulldogs with 25 goals and added 14 assists.

Charlotte Francouer, Roosevelt: Senior stopper helped anchor a solid Roosevelt defense and scored three goals.

Lisa Donn, High Point: Senior defender scored eight goals and added 10 assists.

Shelby Hammond, Seton: Senior center midfielder played a key defensive role. Named All-WCAC Second Team.

Kiana Hart, Douglass: Freshman forward led the Eagles with 26 goals and four assists.

Nicole Hill, Bowie: Junior forward had 20 goals to go along with 21 assists.

Anna Huddleston, Bowie: Freshman forward scored 24 goals and added eight assists.

Chloe Jackson, Riverdale Baptist: Sophomore led the Crusaders to a 9-4 record by scoring 33 goals.

Shonte Moten, Flowers: Junior midefielder led the Jaguars with 18 goals.

Amira Walcott, Roosevelt: Talented senior midfielder scored 10 goals and added 10 assists.
