COACH: Rochelle Coleman, 1st year

LAST YEAR: 7-17

LAST REGIONAL TITLE: 2009

PLAYERS TO WATCH: G Brigette Ocran, G Kiara Colston

OUTLOOK: Former Syracuse University and Paint Branch High School star Rochelle Coleman takes the reins from Daniel Feher after being part of the staff since 2006 as an assistant or as the junior varsity coach. She won a state title as a player in 2001 and finished ranked third all-time with 152 3-pointers for the Orange. Coleman inherits a squad that is two years removed from a 22-win season, but a year removed from a seven-win campaign that was marred by injuries. Leading the team’s hoped-for turnaround is senior guard Bridget Ocran, who averaged 17.1 points per game last year. Ocran, an honorable mention All-Gazette selection last year, has already committed to play basketball at the United States Military Academy. She’s joined by Kiara Colston, a 5-6 transfer from Springbrook. “I think we’ll surprise a lot of people, especially coming off the season they had last year,” Coleman said. “They’re excited about this season. They’re ready to go.”
