Girls Runner of the Year
Charde Barnes, Bowie: The junior capped an impressive season with a fifth-place finish in the Maryland 4A Championship meet, running the hilly 3.1-mile course at Hereford High in Parkton in 19 minutes, 57 seconds. Barnes also won the Prince George's County and 4A South Region championships.
Boys Runner of the Year
Justin Ahalt, Roosevelt: The senior earned runner of the year honors for the second year in a row. Ahalt picked up where he left off last season, sweeping the Prince George's County and 4A South Region championships while improving 16 spots to finish sixth at the state championships (16:55).
Coach of the Year
Richard Andrulonis, Bowie: The Bowie boys team was the class of the county, winning the county and 4A South Region titles. The Bulldogs also had the best finish among county teams at the state meet, taking ninth place.
Kemi Adeniji, Flowers
The senior was second at the county and 4A South Region championships and set a school record on the 3.1-mile course at Fort Washington Park (20:34).
Anne Dickerson, Roosevelt
Dickerson finished eighth in the county championships and seventh in the 4A South Region meet, and was the fourth-best county finisher at the state meet.
Angelina Oputa, Seton
Oputa took seventh at the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference championships (22:48) and fifth at the Maryland & D.C. Private Schools Championship (21:11).
Elizabeth Voigt, Roosevelt
The freshman has a bright future after finishing 21st at the state meet (21:02) and third at the 4A South Region championships.
Gerardo Amaya, Bowie
The senior finished 26th in the state meet (17:33) after taking third in the 4A South Region and fifth in the county.
John Brewer, DeMatha
The senior was ninth at the WCAC championships (18:50) and took 20th (17:33) at the Maryland & D.C. Private Schools Championships.
John Walker, Bowie
The senior finished fourth in the county meet and fifth in the 4A South Region, then was 36th in the state meet (17:42).
Joshua Wilkins, Bowie
Wilkins finished second at both the county and 4A South Region championships.

Ruthie Heying, Pallotti; Esther Omalola, Parkdale; Maya Perry, Bowie; Imani Matthews and Dara Kelly, Flowers; Donica Morris, Wise; Elise Allen and Veronica Handunge, Roosevelt; Nina Johnson, High Point; Jaemi Rowe, DuVal.

The Gazette-Star All-County teams are selected by our staff, based on our observations, results during the season and input from coaches. The All-County volleyball team will be published Dec. 1, followed by the boys and girls soccer teams Dec. 8 and the football team Dec. 15.
