A 29-year-old woman was found dead inside her Oxon Hill apartment Saturday night.
Police found Kaya Dejuna Wilson, who lived in the 1000 block of Marcy Avenue in Oxon Hill, dead from several apparent gunshot wounds at about 8:30 p.m., Prince George’s County police spokesman Cpl. Henry Tippett said.
Police have not identified a suspect or a motive, Tippett said.
Wilson was a studying to be a dental assistant at ACT College, in Arlington, Va., and had two young children, a son and daughter, said Deborah Wilson, Kaya Wilson’s mother.
“She was a mentor to her sisters,” said Deborah Wilson, who lives in Washington, D.C. “She was always there for them, for anyone who needed a friend.”
There were children in the apartment when police responded Saturday evening, Tippett said, but he did not know how many or if they were Kaya Wilson’s children.
