Police have identified a Mount Airy man who was killed early Friday morning on the inner loop of the Beltway in Silver Spring.

According to Maryland State Police, Ryan Joseph McCann, 20, was driving a 2002 Pontiac Bonneville eastbound on the interstate near Georgia Avenue at 1:45 a.m. Friday when he drove into the back of a tractor trailer.

The tractor trailer, which was being driven by Rudolph Wilson of Falling Waters, quickly slowed and changed lanes to avoid a construction zone just before the collision, police said.

Maryland State Police’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division responded to the scene to look for any problems on the tractor trailer. A collision reconstructionist also responded to the scene to investigate.

No charges were filed against Wilson as of Monday morning.
