A Berwyn Heights resident is recovering from inhalation injuries after her single-story home caught fire Sunday afternoon.
At 4:45 p.m., Prince George’s County Fire/EMS units from Berwyn Heights and College Park responded to a call for a house fire at the 8500 block of 58th Avenue, said PGFD spokesman Mark Brady.
Firefighters arrived to see fire coming from the single-family home with the adult female homeowner exiting her home, Brady said. The blaze was extinguished in about 10 minutes and there were no other injuries, he said.
Although the incident remains under investigation, Brady said investigators believe the cause was accidental.
“It will remain under investigation until investigators have the opportunity to interview the female,” Brady said. “We’re currently not able to have a conversation with her, so we’ll need to wait until she gets better.”
Brady said the fire caused an estimated $80,000 in damages.
