Olney Adventist Preparatory School is taking recycling to a whole new level. Each day, the school’s classrooms and hallways are filled up with plastic drink bottles and aluminum cans as students, teachers, parents and church members bring in bag upon bag of recyclable containers.

The school has entered the Dream Machine Recycle Rally, sponsored by PepsiCo, Waste Management and Keep America Beautiful. The school is competing to win $50,000 for “green improvements.” It began in 60th place and is now in 13th place.

The students are requesting help to make their school and the community a better, “greener” place. They ask that No. 1 recyclable plastic drink containers and aluminum cans be dropped off at the school to help students achieve their Recycle Rally Dream.

The school is at 4100 Olney Laytonsville Rd. in Olney. For more information, visit www.olneyprep.org.
