Montrose Christian student gets all-star call by James Peters

Montrose Christian senior Justin Anderson was chosen to participate in the two-day 2011 Boost Mobile Elite 24 basketball event to be held this weekend in Venice Beach, Calif.
The 6-foot-7 Anderson guided the Mustangs to ESPN Rise National High School Invitational tournament championship through a 71-64 double overtime victory against second-seeded Oak Hill (Va.) last April, totaling 15 points and 11 rebounds. He forced the game into a second overtime with a 3-pointer with four seconds left.
The high-flying, sharp-shooting small forward, who averaged 14 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.1 blocks last winter, committed to Virginia in May after originally indicating he wanted to attend Maryland. He changed his mind, however, when Terrapins head coach Gary Williams stepped down and assistant coach Robert Ehsan was not kept on the staff by new Maryland coach Mark Turgeon.
Anderson, a first-team All-Gazette selection, was one of two Maryland high school players selected with the other being point guard Aquille Carr of Baltimore's Patterson High.
Boost Mobile Elite 24 participants are selected based on their performance at AAU events by high school basketball experts from ESPNHS and other talent evaluators and they will be coached by current NBA players Kevin Love, John Wall, Tyreke Evans, Kemba Walker and Brandon Jennings as well as former Duke star Jason Williams.
The coaches are Jason Hart, who played 10 years in the NBA, and Grant Rice, the head coach at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas.
The 2011 Boost Mobile Elite 24 event consists of the Under Armour High School Slam Dunk Contest, at 6 p.m. Friday, and the game at 7 p.m. Saturday. Both are scheduled to be televised live on ESPNU.
