A man and woman were injured early this morning in an apparent drive-by shooting outside a Capitol Heights club, said the club manager.
Prince George’s police responded at approximately 2:44 a.m. to reports of a shooting in the 7900 block of Central Avenue at the Music Sports and Games Bar and Cafe and found a man and woman suffering from gunshot wounds.
Eric Dickens, a manager at MSG, said it appears to be a random drive-by shooting from Central Avenue, but Cpl. Evan Baxter, a county police spokesman, could not confirm that Monday morning.
Dickens had no additional information on the type of car or a driver description.
The man who was shot was not a guest but a promoter passing out fliers outside when he was grazed, Dickens said. The woman had just walked outside to leave the building when she was hit.
"She just happened to walk out with her girlfriends going to the car, and she got struck," Dickens said.
The woman was taken to an area hospital in serious condition, and the man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Prince George's County police. There were no new updates on their conditions or on possible suspects or a motive, Baxter said.
At the time of the shooting, there was not a big crowd outside and MSG was about to close, Dickens said. He said there was no special occasion at MSG and that the disc jockey was wrapping up the last song just before the shooting.
"It's very tragic and senseless; it truly troubles me," he said.
