A man was stabbed to death early Sunday by a housemate in the Palmer Park home they shared, Prince George's County police said.

Police arrested Jonathan Kelly, 60, of the 7600 block of Oxman Road in Palmer Park and charged him in connection with the death of David Smith, 46, of the same address.

Kelly is being charged with second-degree murder, said Cpl. Evan Baxter, a Prince George's County Police Department spokesman.

Officers were called to the address about 2:40 a.m. and found Smith dead on the scene, Baxter said.

The stabbing was the result of an altercation between the two, and as of Tuesday police no information was available on what the dispute was about, said police spokeswoman Cpl. Erica Johnson.

Kelly is scheduled to appear in Prince George's County Circuit Court in Upper Marlboro at 8:45 a.m. Aug. 26 for a preliminary hearing, according to court records.
