The city of Laurel will hold July 4th events on July 2. Events begin with a parade line up at 9:30 a.m. at 6th and Montgomery streets. Parade starts at 11 a.m. Judging stand on 4th St. behind the shopping center. Also at 11 a.m. there will be a horseshoe contest and Classic Car Show at Granville Gude Park(Laurel Lakes), 8300 Mulberry St. Laurel. Field events will be held at 1 p.m. at Gude Park. At 3:15 p.m. there will be Grand Opening, Flag Raising, Pledge and National Anthem sung by Sabrina Mart h and Invocation by Rev. Warren Litchfield. At 4 p.m. the reading of parade awards and acknowledgements and 4:30 p.m. Classic Car show Awards Announced from the hill. at 5 p.m. music by Oracle and 7 p.m. Welcome and Introduction of Mayor and City Council and Introduction of Grand Marshals. 7:15 Acknowledgements and Committee Awards; 7:30 Music by Oracle and 9:15 p.m. Fireworks from the lake. Enjoy a family friendly free day of activities at National Harbor on July 3. The American Market is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Sounds of Summer Concert Series will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. scheduled are The Image Band performing from 3 to 4 p.m.; Speakers of the House from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and Junkyard Saints from 6 to 8 p.m. Movies on the Potomac will be held at 8:30 p.m. bring your lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy a free movie under the stars. There will be a intermission from the movie for Fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Activities are free except the Gaylord’s Fireworks and Fun event.

The Greenbelt Artful Afternoon and Fourth of July Festivities will be held July 4 at Buddy Attick Park, Crescent Road near Kenilworth Avenue, Greenbelt. Children’s activities will be held from 5 to 8 p.m.; Community Drum Circle from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m.; Greenbelt Concert Band performs from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. and fireworks around 9 p.m. Call 301-474-0646.

Food and drinks will be on sale throughout the Park beginning at 3 PM. Entertainment will begin at the Robert V. Setera Amphitheater with the music of Diamond Alley one of the area’s premier variety bands at 5:30 PM: Don’t miss the fireworks beginning at dark (approximately 9:15 PM Excellent viewing locations and concessions can be found at both the Northview Drive and the Mitchellville Road sides of the Park. ). Grills are permitted in designated areas only! Due to both safety and humane concerns no pets will be allowed in the Park on July 4th. The rain date for fireworks only is Tuesday, July 5th. The University of Maryland and the city of College Park will hold a free concert and fireworks beginning at 7 p.m. July 4 at the University of Maryland in Lot 1 adjacent to Campus Drive off Adelphi Road. Once again, residents are invited to enjoy Rock and Roll favorites with The Fabulous Hubcaps. Fireworks start at dusk - about 9 p.m. You can expect a 30 to 40 minute program. In case of rain, the fireworks show will be held on July 5. Concessions open at 5 p.m. offering hamburgers, hot dogs, funnel cakes, ice cream, snow cones, soda and bottled water. Six Flags American will celebrate Independence Weekend with two nights of fireworks at dusk July 3 and July 4 over Hurricane Bay wave pool. Along with fireworks, pop-rock bands The Downtown Fiction and Hotspur will perform at 6 p.m. July 3 at Gotham Arena. All Six Flags America events are free with paid park admission. Eligible service personnel may show their military ID cards at Six Flags America ticket booths to receive a complimentary one-day admission to the park. Family members can receive special discounted admission by purchasing tickets at participating Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) offices or Information, Tickets, and Tours (ITT) offices throughout Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Northern Virginia.
