Wrestler of the Year: Trey Seymour, Gwynn Park

Senior won county and region titles and was the state runner-up in the 2A/1A 285-pound division. Pinned county's only state champion, Jamal Saunders of Bladensburg, to win county title match.

Coach of the Year: Mike McRae, Roosevelt

Stepping down after 12 seasons, McRae guided Roosevelt to its fourth consecutive county championship and the team had six wrestlers qualify for the state tournament.

Thierno Diallo, DuVal

Sophomore has bright future after going 31-2 and finishing as runner up at 103 in the Maryland 4A/3A state tournament.

Chris Halkos, Pallotti

Junior was second at 112 in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association and fifth at Maryland Independent Schools championships.

Nick Finnblade, Pallotti

Junior was fifth at 119 in the MIAA tournament and took seventh at prestigious National Preps tournament in Lehigh, Pa.

Alfred Bannister, McNamara

Maryland Independent Schools state champion at 125 as a freshman, Banninster was 57-5 and didn't lose to a Maryland opponent.

Skylar Barrowman, Roosevelt

Senior went 37-5, won county title and took sixth place at 130 in the Maryland 4A/3A state tournament.

Tito Onyekweli, DeMatha

Onyekweli capped a magnificent year at 135 with a 51-8 record and third-place finish at National Preps.

Joe Florenzo, Pallotti

Took seventh place at 140 in the Maryland Independent Schools championships, was unbeaten at Pallotti Duals and won Winter Blitz.

Josh Couto, DeMatha

Senior amassed 45-18 record and took fifth place at 145 in the Maryland Independent Schools tournament.

Sodiq Yuseff, Bladensburg

Senior won county title at 152, made the state tournament went 26-13 in only his second year of wrestling.

Isaac Ndze-Williams, Roosevelt

Capped senior season by winning county 160 title, then took second in 4A/3A South Region and fifth in the state.

William Johnson, Friendly

A three-sport athlete (football, wrestling, track & field), he breezed to the county championship at 171.

Shane Cockerille, DeMatha

Sophomore went 52-13 and was fifth at 189 in the Maryland Independent Schools tournament and at National Preps.

Dylan Devine, DeMatha

Junior went 48-8, was second at 215 in the Maryland Independent Schools tournament and went on to take third at National Preps.

Tommie Boozer, Roosevelt

Junior won county public schools title at 215, took second in 4A/3A South Region and was fifth in the state tournament.

Jamal Saunders, Bladensburg

Senior wrestled for only his second year, but was 34-3 and was county's only public school state champion, winning 4A/3A 285-pound title.
