Coach of the Year

Nick Snyder, Gov. Thomas Johnson

For the second straight year, Snyder's bunch set out to win the Monocacy Valley Athletic League's Chesapeake Conference, Frederick County, Class 4A North Region, and the Class 4A state meets, which they did.

Runner of the Year

Marquis Woodyard, Sr., Gov. Thomas Johnson

Woodyard's 2010 resume; Class 4A state gold medals in the 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles, and the 4-by-200 team. Will play football at James Madison University this fall.

Field Athlete of the Year

Erick Artusio, Sr., Thomas Johnson

For the entire season, Artusio battled himself more than his competitors, chasing down personal records as well as meet records he set in 2009. His mark of 15-feet, 4 inches in the Frederick County Championship shattered his previous personal record. Also won the Class 4A gold medal.

First Team

Jose Depadua, Jr., Walkersville 100/200/400 The top sprinter from Frederick County, in the 2A state meet, finished first in the 100, was fourth in the 200 and seventh in the 400.

Javar Cruz, Jr., Frederick, 110hurdles/300hurdles Won the Class 3A state 300 hurdles and was second in the 110 hurdles.

Deven Patterson, Jr., Catoctin, 400 Won the Frederick County, Class 1A West and 1A state 400 meter titles.

Stephen Keith, Jr., Walkersville 800/1600 Took second in the 2A state 800 and 1600 with times that under normal conditions were superb (1:58.16 and 4:23.00).

Jimmy Miller, Sr., Urbana, 1600/3200 Miller was second in the Class 4A 3200 and fifth in the 1600, finishing a stellar high school career.

Robby Creese, Jr., Glenelg, 800/1600/3200 Creese won all three of his Class 2A state races, and each time set the fastest time in the area

Brandon Brownfield, Sr., Gov. Thomas Johnson, Long Jump/Triple Jump/High Jump Recorded a 22-1 effort for third in the Class 4A long jump. Was fifth and seventh in the high jump and triple jump, respectively. Won the county long jump title.

Momodou Drammeh, Sr., Gov. Thomas Johnson, High Jump The Class 4A state champion cleared 6-4. Also took first in 4A North and Frederick County meets.

Grant Smith, Sr., Brunswick, Shot Put/Discus The Class 1A state champ in the shot and discus, he's also the Frederick County champion in the shot put.

Nick Forbes, Sr., Thomas Johnson, Discus/Shot Put California-Berkeley bound football player won the gold medal in the 4A state discus meet. Was also was fifth in the shot put.

Tyrus Lawson, Jr., Brunswick, Triple Jump Won the Frederick County triple jump and was fifth in the Class 1A championships.

Catoctin 4-by-100, (Harlan Lawson, Soph., Nick Nowaczyk, Sr., Craig Nowaczyk, Jr. Deven Patterson, Jr.) Finished second in the 1A state meet.

Thomas Johnson 4-by-200 (Fabian Gonzalez, Sr., Richard Newman, Jr., Nico Johnson, soph., Marquis Woodyard, Sr.) 4A state champs.

Thomas Johnson 4-by-400 (Brandon Brownfield, Sr., Richard Newman, Jr., Fabian Gonzalez, Sr., Marquis Woodyard, Sr.) Quartet snagged the county championships.

Walkersville 4-by-800 (Matt Harbour, Fr., Ryan Hub, Sr., Stephen Keith, Jr., Josh Miller, Sr.) Lions won the county meet title.
