Player of the Year

Casey Schmidt, Glenelg

Sr., pitcher/outfielder

All-around athlete was Howard County's Player of the Year, compiled a 13-1 with a 0.65 earned run average as a pitcher and hit .446 with four homers and 24 runs batted-in. Will play softball and volleyball next season at Grove City (Pa.) College.

Coach of the Year

Frank Husson, Urbana

Coached the Hawks to a 19-3 record and the Class 4A state semifinals, taking Anne Arundel County power Broadneck to the brink in a 4-3 defeat.

First Team

Leah Allen, Glenelg, Fr., INF

Solid defensive shortstop batted .403 with three home runs and 16 RBI. Also stole 17 bases without being thrown out.

Jade Bowins, Gov. TJ, Sr., INF

Sacred Heart University-bound shortstop batted .500 with 25 RBI.

Tori Brown, Linganore, Sr., P

Won 11 games for the Lancers as a pitcher and helped her cause batting .323 with three home runs and 16 RBI.

Carly Farr, Catoctin, Jr., INF

Compiled a scalding .533 batting average with four homers, 11 doubles and 25 RBI.

Holly Gambrell, Linganore, Soph., OF

Was second on the team with a .379 batting average with 14 RBI and three triples.

Christy Hediger, MSD, Jr., UTIL

Led the Orioles with three home runs and 21 RBI. Batted .481 with 24 runs scored.

Kathryn Larson, Gov. TJ, Sr., P

Staff ace went 11-3 with 116 strikeouts in 85 innings, helping the Patriots advance to the 4A North Region final.

Stephanie Maring, South Carroll, Sr., INF

First-team All-Carroll County player sported .989 fielding percentage while batting .338 with 10 RBI. Will play at McDaniel College next year.

Angelia McDowell, Gov. TJ, Sr., OF

Speedy leadoff hitter batted .485 and was named team's Defensive Player of the Year.

Alexa Murphy, Urbana, Soph., P

Compiled an 18-2 pitching record with an 0.83 ERA. Struck out 184 batters with just 44 walks in 135 innings.

Megan Peomroy, Catoctin, Sr., P

In 122 innings, notched 113 strikeouts, going 15-3 for the year. Hit .328 with 11 RBI and a .486 on base percentage.

Amanda Segrist, Glenelg, Jr., P-INF

Drove in team-best 30 runs at the plate while registering a 1.18 ERA with 77 strikeouts in the pitching circle.

Rachel Teti, Linganore, Jr., INF

Led her team offensively in batting average (.475), hits (28) and RBI (19).

Jessica Trammell, Urbana, Jr., INF

Led the team in batting (.487) with 15 RBI and 16 runs scored and a .967 fielding percentage at third base.

Karson Tuck, Walkersville, Sr., INF

Jacksonville University (Fla.) signee batted .477 this season with 13 RBI and 12 doubles.
