Coach of the Year

Keivette Hammond

FrederickThe former Birmingham Southern College assistant led the Cadets to two playoff wins and a near upset of Damascus in the Class 3A West Region semifinal. Began her tenure with one senior in a 1-20 season (2005-06). Struggled in 2006-07 (2-20), gaining a playoff win, then nearly hit the .500 mark this season at 12-13.

Player of the Year

Holly Havenstein

Linganore, Sr., C

The key player for Linganore this season, the 6 foot 2 inch Colgate University-bound post player averaged a double double with 14.9 points and 11.9 rebounds per contest. Was an intregal part of the Lancers Monocacy Valley Athletic League Chesapeake Conference championship squad this winter.

First team

Kashay Barnes, Frederick, Sr., G

Compiled an average of 14.0 per game for the vastly-improved Cadets. Also added a team-high 3.1 assists per game.

Katie Biggs, Glenelg, Sr., F

Was an all-around performer, averaging 14.6 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game for the Gladiators. Will play at NCAA Division II Shepherd next season.

Kelsey Franklin, South Carroll, Jr., G

Averaged 13 points per game for the Cavaliers, earning first team All-MVAL Blue Ridge Conference first-team honors.

Josie Hildebrand, Walkersville, Sr., F

Led the Lions in scoring at 14.1 points per game. Also paced the team in rebounding at 8.7 per contest.

Stef McLallen, Century, Jr., G

Poured in over 14 points per contest for the 17-5 Knights, who finished second in the MVAL’s Blue Ridge Conference.

Colleen McCarrick, Middletown, Sr., F

Led the entire MVAL in scoring at 17.7 per contest. Also pulled down 9.6 boards per game. Leaning toward playing lacrosse and field hockey at McDaniel College.

Alyassa Oursler, Middletown, Jr., G

Perfect sidekick to McCarrick, averaging 12.6 points per game.

Kimberly Passarelli, Frederick Warriors, Sr., G

Led the entire area in scoring and assists with the home-school contingent, filling up the stat sheet with 23.0 points and 7.4 assists per game.

Kate Schwarzmann, Century, Jr., G

Outstanding all-around athlete averaged 10 points a game and was a first team All-Blue Ridge Conference selection.

Second team

Andrea Amati, MSD, Sr., G

Led the Orioles with a 14.7 scoring average.

Lynasia Frazier, Tuscarora, Soph., G

Diminutive guard (5-2) led the Titans with 13.9 points per game.

Rebecca Hemby, Thomas Johnson, So., G/F

Led the Patriots in scoring (11.6) in her first varsity season in the tough MVAL Chesapeake Conference.

Kelsey House, Middletown, Sr., G

First-team All-MVAL Piedmont Conferennce selection rang up averages of 9.4 points and 2.6 assists per contest.

Hannah McBee, Urbana, Sr., G

The Old Dominion Univ.-bound lacrosse player led the Hawks in assists (3.2) and was a first-team All-Chesapeake Conference pick.

Caitlyn Poff, Liberty Sr., G

Paced the Lions in scoring for a second straight season with 12 per outing.

Hannah Rogers, Brunswick, Jr., F

Led the Railroaders in scoring at 14.5 per game.

Cyndi Scurci, South Carroll, So., F

Averaged over 11 points per game for the Cavs.
