Swimmer of the Year

Sean StewartWootton, Sr.

University of Maryland signee set four county records and now holds five of eight individual county marks. Set Metros records in winning 100 and 200 freestyles.

Coach of the Year

Jamie GrimesWalter Johnson, 5th year

Led team powered by depth to championship at county meet despite only three individual race wins. Fifth-place finish at Metros was highest of any public school.

Diver of the Year

Michael Stanton

Churchill, Jr.Took year off from club diving, but shook off any rust to win first county title with 379.90 points. Broke county record with 456.45 points at Metros, good for fourth place.

First team

Brady Fox, Georgetown Prep., Jr.

Won 100 backstroke and set meet record in winning 100 butterfly to lead Prep to fourth straight Metros title.

Eric Friedland, Walter Johnson, Sr.

Future Texas Longhorn one of only two swimmers to break two Metros records: 200 individual medley, 100 breaststroke.

Mark Meyer, Whitman, Sr.

Won 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle at counties. Finished second in 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly at Metros.

Brock Park, Landon, Sr.

University of North Carolina-bound, won 50 freestyle at Metros and 100 and 200 freestyle at WMPSSDL meet. Broke school’s 200 freestyle record.

Andrew Relihan, Georgetown Prep, Sr.

Won 200 individual medley and finished second to teammate Fox in 100 backsroke at WMPSSDL meet. Took third in both events at Metros.

Stephen Sakaris, Wootton, Sr.

Top-four finisher in 100 and 200 freestyles at Metros. Part of winning 200 and 400 freestyle relays at counties.

Matt Thomas, Magruder, Soph.

Clinched second in 500 freestyle and third in 200 freestyle at Metros and finished second in both events at counties.

Kevin Vallario, Good Counsel, Jr.

Tallied second-place finishes in 50 and 100 freestyles at Metros, and anchored second- and third-place 200 and 400 freestyle relay squads there.
