Swimmer of the Year

Anais MenguyRichard Montgomery, Jr.

Broke 22-year-old county record en route to winning 100 butterfly at county meet. Won that event and 200 freestyle at Metros, earning All-America honors in both.

Coach of the Year

Rodney Van Tassell

Churchill, 6th year

Led Churchill team devoid of superstars to first county title since 2000 and highest public-school finish at Metros.

Diver of the Year

Brittany Powell

Magruder, Jr.Improved poise, maturity and skill. Won counties for first-ever high school title and followed up with win at Metros, where 410.65 points set new county record.

First team

Cara Chuang, Poolesville, Soph.

Successfully defended 100 backstroke title at Metros, added 200 individual medley win. Won 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle at county meet.

Heather Denman, Sherwood, Sr.

Racked up second-place finishes in 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke at Metros. Finished second in 100 backstroke at counties.

Katie Rogers, Holy Cross, Fr.

Won 200 and 500 freestyles in leading Holy Cross to second-place finish at WMPSSDL meet. Finished second and third in those events, respectively, at Metros.

Elena Spak, Walter Johnson, Sr.

Earned automatic All-American honors en route to winning 100 freestyle at Metros. Won 50 freestyle at counties and took second in that event at Metros.

Sarah VanDoren, Damascus, Jr.

Picked up first Metros title of her career in 100 breaststroke, setting new county record in process.

Mina Vucic, Walter Johnson, Jr.

Took 50 freestyle title from teammate Spak at Metros. Also finished third in 100 freestyle there and was part of county-winning 200 and 400 free relays.

Alicia Watkins, Churchill, Soph.

Tallied second-place finishes in 100 freestyle and 100 butterfly at Metros. Won 200 freestyle at counties.

Blair Webb, Good Counsel, Jr.

Won 50 and 100 freestyle in leading Falcons to WMPSSDL title. Took third in 200 individual medley and 500 freestyle at Metros.
