Whether reawakening the Bard courtesy of The Maryland Shakespeare Festival, catching dinner and a show at Way Off Broadway, or exploring acting’s cutting edge at the Maryland Ensemble Theatre, audiences will laugh, cry, and return for more every time the curtain goes up. Frederick County also enjoys a burgeoning community of artists, a number of whom display work at galleries in Frederick’s downtown during the First Saturday Gallery Walk, staged on the first Saturday of each month. On that day, downtown galleries and shops stay open late.
