I cover state politics and spend much of my time reporting from the State House in Annapolis. I began working for The Gazette in 2010, covering local news in nine communities in northern Prince George’s County, and moved to the county government beat in 2011. A native of the D.C. area, I studied English at Kenyon College in Ohio and worked in film and TV production before getting a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Maryland, College Park. My work has also appeared in The Washington Post, The Baltimore Sun, The Washington Times, The Easton Star-Democrat, El Pais Costa Rica and Germany’s Zeit Online. My wife and I live in Montgomery County, where we enjoy a steady diet of old movies and older books.
