I have a 30-year career in Maryland journalism, with stops in Frederick, Westminster, Columbia and Silver Spring. At The Frederick News-Post, I guided our coverage of the “black book,” the business records of a prostitution ring that ruined the re-elections of two mayors. This is my second tour of duty at The Gazette. From 2004 to 2010, I covered the Montgomery County Council and the Maryland State House. I returned to the Gazette in 2012 to be the Montgomery editor. In between, I worked for an Internet startup. I grew up on the Eastern Shore and graduated from the University of Rhode Island. I live in Frederick with my wife and two children. My daughter is currently a journalism student at the University of Maryland, and my son is a student at Frederick High School.
