Art if the Afrocentric Community: Works in Wire
The Sandy Spring Museum presents Art of the Afrocentric Community, a collection of multi-media sculptures by award-winning artist Floyd Roberts. The exhibit runs from April 5-June 1, 2014 with an opening Caribbean-themed reception on April 5th from 1 pm to 3 pm.
Art of the Afrocentric Community is a collection of multi-media sculptural works exploring issues of nature, race and artistic identity. Mr. Roberts, a native of the island of Trinidad, seeks to show the contributions and challenges of those of African and Caribbean descent to the artistic community. Mr. Roberts also expresses his concern for the environment and his appreciation of wildlife by creating pieces representing all corners of the animal kingdom, from the deep sea octopus to the wild horses of Assateague.
Mr. Roberts is a graduate of the Corcoran School of Art and has exhibited in galleries throughout the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area and beyond.
