7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Sponsored by: Montgomery Philharmonic Orchestra
At its first concert of the season, the Montgomery Philharmonic will examine how composers write descriptive music. Mendelssohn’s scenic overture, The Hebrides, describes the striking terrain of Staffa Island on the Hebrides archipelago off the coast of Scotland. Verdi’s overture to the opera Nabucco describes an event in history. Beethoven expresses the concept of heroism in his Third Symphony.
