His paintings float between abstraction and representation, between pixel and the mark of paint, between presence and absence. Often working from a matrix that includes iconographic images such as ancient Buddhist tangka paintings or prescribed propaganda imagery, Muhn presents a compelling contemplation on the power of the image and its infinite manifestations.
