Appearance is never quite what it appears to be in John R. G. Roth's Polymorphic Conveyances at VisArts. It glints, undulates, shifts and rolls. Or, suddenly it freezes in time like a specimen, memorial or repetitive dream. What remains constant is Roth's vision. His exquisitely crafted, polymorphic sculpture and furniture combine gravitas, folly and humor. Forthright yet eccentric forms carry communiqués linked to his thoughts about the relationship between resources and natural environment.
