A Prince George’s County police officer was transported to a local hospital Thursday afternoon after a “serious” collision with another vehicle in Clinton, police said.

Cpl. Maria McKinney, a county police spokeswoman, said the officer driving the police cruiser and the occupant of the civilian vehicle were both transported to an area hospital for injuries sustained in the serious crash.

Police spokesman Cpl. Larry Johnson said the officer was in critical condition Thursday evening, but did not have any information on the condition of the civilian.

According to the county’s office of emergency management, both directions on Branch Avenue and Surratts Road have been closed in both directions as a collision analysis crew is on scene.
